Cecil Robin Singalaoa
Having been raised in the mountain landscape of Baguio City, Cecil Robin developed a close kinship with the rich flora and fauna around her. That kinship is the basis of her art. Her art is harnessed by the captivating beauty and detail she sees in the natural world. Being a robin herself, she is drawn to painting birds.
Cecil Robin’s ethos is simple: bringing together art and the spirit of environmental conservationism through playful and vibrant illustrations and paintings. She finds contentment in exploring and working with watercolor to depict the intricate details of her nature-inspired art — playing with simple and yet complex intricacies.
Cecil Robin is a member of the Philippine Guild of Watercolorists, International Watercolor Society Philippines, Philippine Fauna Art Society, and the Philippine Botanical Art Society. In 2021, as part of the Commission on Culture and the Arts, her “Birds in the Hoodies” series was published in the University of the Philippines Baguio inaugural KIMATA FOLIO: journal of contemporary literary and visual works. In addition, Cecil Robin’s artwork has been shown in numerous exhibitions in both local and national galleries, including “Of Art And Wine: Para sa Kalikasan I & II” Philippines-Malaysia Fauna & Botanical Art Exhibition Gallery at the Conrad Manila, several exhibits for Art Show Philippines, the series of exhibitions organized by The Pasa-Kalye Group of Artists, and the Tam-Awan Group of Artists.
Cecil Robin graduated with a degree in Fine Arts major in Visual Arts from the University of the Philippines Baguio. She also graduated cum laude Master of Education major in Special Education at the University of Cordilleras. As an artist and a teacher, she continues to create works of art and at the same time teaches art to students of various ages and backgrounds.
