Graduating from the University of the Philippines Diliman, College of Fine Arts with a degree in Visual Communication, Baguio-based artist Jhoan “Tioan” Medrano is currently a Lecturer in the Fine Arts Program at the University of the Philippines Baguio. She is also the Creative Director and co-founder of Aramid Studio, a graphic design studio based in Baguio City.
Aside from graphic design, she is also a painter and folk artist engaged in sculpture and embroidery. Having been influenced by her adopted city, the theme of her works is centered mostly on depictions of humans and the environment, and Cordilleran indigenous motifs. Her works have been exhibited in different galleries and museums abroad and in the Philippines.
